Friday Men’s Group 4/25/25

“If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself,
and take up his cross daily and follow Me.”

(Luke 9:23)

“From that time on, many of His disciples turned back
and no longer walked with Him anymore.”

(John 666)

NOTE: THERE’S A LOT HERE. TAKE YOUR TIME AND BOOKMARK FOR THE WEEKEND

Hi Men:
I pray you had a joyful Easter celebration surrounded by loved ones, and that Christ was truly the centerpiece of your day. May your life continue to be hidden in Him, as we walk in the light of His resurrection.

Do we really understand what Jesus was saying in the verses above?  I ran across a note from a brother some years ago.  He stated the following:

“Because the cost of discipleship is high, Jesus told everyone to first count the cost.  And because of this cost, Jesus only ended up with a few deeply committed followers……….. BUT those few were enough to change the world!”

Here are a few verses he included: Luke 9:57-62, John 6:60-66, Mark 10:17-31

Time is short men.  Be very prayerful to “Establish Your (God-given) Purpose.”

IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD & DOWN THE STREET

What does a young man from Home Depot, four movers, and two sets of delivery guys have in common? Give up? They were all grateful to receive Gospel tracts and the other items we gave out!

Out of all of them, only Kamren from Home Depot turned out to be a believer. He attends Walk Church and knows Jorge Hernandez! We had a great conversation—he shared that he doesn’t really have a clear purpose in life right now, so we talked about that for a while. He was a huge help too—we loaded 800 lbs of rock salt into my truck!

The other men were all so happy to receive everything we offered. In the top right photo, you’ll see our brother Dave Rice on the far right. We shared the Gospel with these four guys, and they all responded really well—especially the man on the far left. I can’t remember his name, but he was super excited to hear the Good News!

Men, this is so much fun! Get in the game while there is still daylight……..

“We must carry out the works of Him who sent Me as long as it is day; night is coming, when no one can work.” ~ JESUS

Did Francis Prove To Be “The Humble Pope?”

by Tim Challies

Men: This is a must read. It will take you 8 minutes and you can also listen to it. Sent it to your Catholic buddies and say, “Let me know what you think?”

“Had Francis actually been a humble pope,
he would have declared his own fallibility and
placed himself under the authority of Scripture”

THE COST OF NOT MAKING DISCIPLES

(from The Invested Life)

“They (Jesus & Paul) invested heavily in these small, select bands of leaders until they were equipped with so much live and so much spiritual capital that they were ready to advance God’s Kingdom and radically change the culture, despite intense opposition.”
