Whoa……. What is This?

Hi Men:
As the days draw closer for our eternal departure (which could be tomorrow for any of us), I pray you are increasingly reflecting on your life “in” Christ. I love the verse taken from Dwight Hill’s devotional below. Find some quiet time and meditate on these familiar four verses (2 Cor 8-11). Here is verse 11:
“For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that His life may also be revealed in our mortal body.”
(2 Cor 4:11)
So what’s with the image above? A weird galaxy or nebula? Is it part of the James Webb Telescope? No………….It’s just one of many “accurate” animations of YOUR BODY’S MOLECULAR MACHINES. It is part of a very cool video that I suggest you watch. Did you know that 50-70 billion of your cells die every day? And, of course, they have to be replaced through cell division called mitosis. Depending on the latest science reports, which vary, there are about 100 trillion cells in the human body and approximately every 7 years they have all been regenerated……..Ahh, we get a new body! 
Hahaha…….. The video is about 4 years old, so the numbers on the cells are greater today with more sophisticated scientific and biological advancements.

As you watch this video (6 ½ min), I hope it impacts you the way it did for me……… totally overwhelmed at our majestic and marvelous God. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. It takes the Fear of the Lord to a new level and that is a good thing based on Proverbs 9:10, “Fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.” It astounds me just how many people refuse to believe that God miraculously wove us together, thereby have made a willful decision to remain STUPID!
The Lord says, “My people are stupid; they don’t know me.
They are like foolish children; they have no understanding.
They are experts at doing what is evil, but failures at doing what is good.”
(Jeremiah 4:22)

DEALING WITH SUFFERING (2 of 5)
We continue in our discussion as to why we suffer:
God develops mature character in us through our perseverance in suffering:
“Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything”
(Jms. 1:2-4). (See Rom. 5:3-5; Act. 14:22; 1 Pet 1:6, 7)
God allows suffering in our lives in order to reveal the life of Christ in us:
We are hard pressed on every side, but not crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body. For we who are alive are always being given over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that his life may be revealed in our mortal body (2 Cor. 4:8-11)
God disciplines us through the suffering we cause from our own rebellion:
Wisdom calls aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the public squares; at the head of the noisy streets she cries out, in the gateways of the city she makes her speech: How long will you simple ones love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge? If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you. But since you rejected me when I called and no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand, since you ignored all my advice and would not accept my rebuke, I in turn will laugh at your disaster; I will mock when calamity overtakes you– when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you. Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me. Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the Lord, since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke, they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes. For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them; but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm” (Pro. 1:20-33).
