Pacific Golden Plover

“Even the stork that flies across the sky knows the time of her migration,
as do the turtledove, the swallow, and the crane. They all return at the
proper time each year. But not my people! They do not
know the LORD’s laws.”
Jeremiah 8:7

Hi Men:

I pray you’ve had time this week to reflect on the miracle of who you are “in” Christ.  Take a moment to reflect on this verse from 2 Corinthians 4:11, “For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifest “in” our mortal flesh.”  What a great verse to ponder on as you have quiet time this weekend.

Just like Israel, we live in a time that people have no desire to obey God’s laws.  In Jeremiah, God not only called his people foolish, but STUPID.  “For My people are foolish, They know Me not; They are STUPID children And have no understanding. They are shrewd to do evil, But to do good they do not know.”  (Jeremiah 4:22)   And in Isaiah 5:20 He said “Woe to those who call evil good and good evil, who put darkness for light and light for darkness, who put bitter for sweet and sweet for bitter!”  As we have said often, not only should we be in a perpetual state of brokenness and dependence, but one of repentance.  We’re fast to call homosexuality sin, but what about unmarried couples living together?  The last time I looked, both those groups were NOT going to inherit the kingdom of God (1 Cor 6:9-10; Gal 5:19-21).  If you are interested how we got to where we currently are, I would encourage you to read Jerry Bangert’s book, “THE DISCIPLINE OF DELUSION, How Secular Ideas Became the New Idolatry.”  (Click Here) or (Kindle)

WHAT ABOUT THE BIRD?

I thought we needed a break from stars, trees, clouds and the temperature of ‘burning sulfur’…….  How about the amazing Pacific Golden Plover?  I put a short paragraph in the Friday letter last year about the Hummingbird E² Vegas.org/Friday-Mens-Group-4-9-21, so I think you will find this bird almost as amazing.

I went to Google Earth and looked at the distance from Alaska to Hawaii.  About 3,000 miles.  Check out the images:

Hawaii is out in the middle of nowhere, just a tiny speck in a vast ocean, yet the Pacific Golden Plover finds its way there from Alaska.  Ain’t evolution something 😊  Scientists are astounded at how accurately they navigate back and forth (Alaska/Hawaii).  For this short blog, we are only going to talk about Alaska and Hawaii, but the Plover migrates to other areas also.  Here are a few amazing facts:

  • The baby Plover hatches and the parents leave for Hawaii right away (they spend just a few days after all the babies have hatched ) and their one-way ticket doesn’t include Junior!
    • By the way, when the parents reach Hawaii, they go to the EXACT location they left when they took off for Alaska.
  • Back to Junior:  He has to fend for himself for a couple months avoiding those hungry Sea Gulls.  Plovers hatch with fully developed legs so they can run right after hatching.  How amazing is that!
  • Junior plumps up to about 7-8oz and takes off for Hawaii about a month or so after his folks split.
    • Without a map or satellite phone, he gets to Hawaii after flying non-stop for about 96 hours (remember, Plover’s CAN NOT SWIM).
    • Note:  When they fly back to Alaska it’s about 72 hours (difference due to wind)
  • When Junior arrives at the Mauna Kea 🙂 …. he has lost half his body weight (down to about 4oz.)  In Hawaii, Plovers are called:  Kolea and Hawaiians love them.
  • The oldest known Pacific Golden Plover lived 21 years, making that Alaska/Hawaii  ßà Hawaii/Alaska trip every year!

There is lot’s more about this amazing bird and to believe that it happened accidently (evolution) is an absurd fantasy.  There must be God!

Your speechless brother in Jesus,
Dan

Then Jesus said to all of them, “If anyone wants to come after Me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow Me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will save it.”  (Luke 9:23-24)

Men:
Two quotes from the devotionals below, “Remember, your willingness to faithfully proclaim the good news is evidence that you are one of the elect” and “When God brings circumstances into your life not to your liking (and you can be confident that He will), do not question His goodness.”

Guys, do you believe this?  Read on………….

CONFORMED TO HIS IMAGE
By Skip Tschantz

 “The Scriptures are clear.
God’s plan for all those whom He justifies is that they would become conformed to the image of His Son.
Not some, but all believers. How are you doing?”

Men:  Take a few minutes and read this blog.  It will bless you greatly!

(Isaiah 8:13)

“You are the stability of our times, a wealth of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge;
The fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure.”
