Fireflies

Hi Men:
I pray you have tasted the goodness of the Lord this week. Just ponder this amazing verse, “For you have been bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body” (1 Cor 6:20) Backup a few verses and you will read, “But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with Him in spirit.” (1 Cor 6:17). How mind-boggling are these verses? God has done the unthinkable….. purchased us through the blood of His own precious Son. If God has done the “unthinkable” why is it that there are so many in the church today that do the “unthinkable” and carry-on in unrighteous behavior? (1 Cor 6:9-10). What happened?
Last week I gave you a glimpse of the amazing Pacific Golden Plover E² Vegas.org/Friday-Mens-Group-6-3-22 and inserted the verse from Jeremiah 8:7. One of the brothers send me a great verse from Job that zeroed-in on how we yearn to see God and all we have to do is:
“But now ask the beasts, and let them teach you;
And the birds of the heavens, and let them tell you.
“Or speak to the earth, and let it teach you;
And let the fish of the sea declare to you.
“Who among all these does not know
That the hand of the Lord has done this,
In whose hand is the life of every living thing,
And the breath of all mankind? (Job 12:7-10)
Every creation of God knows…. Except us! Have you ever reflected when God declared, “Let there be light” and His creation obeyed and there was light! Just like His creation, God expects the same response to His Word …… OBEY! When we have a heart for obedience, through His infinite love and grace God will help us apply what He knows is best for us…….
FIREFLIES
Years ago we had a family reunion at our cousin’s farm in a rural area in Wisconsin. At dusk the fireflies came out. What a magical treat for all the young folk that had never experienced these amazing bioluminescent aliens….. I was pretty thrilled myself! People that grew up around fireflies have great childhood memories (my memories are mosquitoes in Wyoming and cicadas in Las Vegas 😊) Actually fireflies are beetles. People in the south call them lightning bugs, yet they are one and the same.
Rather than me giving you the Firefly Facts, I ran across this recent video from Tim Challies website called the John 10:10 Project. This is an amazing video that you will certainly enjoy. Here is the link or click on the image to the left. (YouTube 8 minutes)
RUSSELL FAMILY UPDATE
This Monday our son Mark and family arrive from Mexico. They only purchased a “one-way” ticket. Why? After (6) years of living and ministering in Guadalajara, Mark, Zaira and their (4) kids are moving from Mexico to North Carolina. The exciting thing for Jane and me is that they and the grandkids will be with us for over a month….. yay! I would covet your prayers for them as God continues the process for their relocation.
Thanking our Good Lord for “everything” the way it is right now!
