Wild Horses

Torres del Paine – Patagonia Region, Chile S.A.

Hi Men:

I pray Jesus has been on your mind throughout the week and that you didn’t forget to “put on” Christ daily….

“But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.” (Romans 13:14)

The photo above caught my attention.  It was captured by landscape photographer, Chris Byrne on a photo shoot in Chile, South America just 2 months back.  It shows once again the marvelous creation God has dropped in our lap.  Those spiraling mountains take your breath away and every time I see horses, I think of the complexity and miracle of their anatomy.  You might remember my short blog on their hooves last year:  Miracles in Front of Me!  There is so much negative stuff pressing in on all sides, what a great respite to look at this photo and once again know clearly that our God is 100% in control of everything and He is good

GRANDKIDS

Excitement galore for grandpa and grandma.  As mentioned in last week’s Friday letter, our son Mark with his family arrived from Guadalajara, MX on Monday.  I’ll try to restrain myself in the next few weeks and not bore you with numerous photos of the grandkids.  This week, I’ll leave you will a 10 second video of my granddaughter Olivia as she rebuilds their sand pile.  She and her sister took turns on the tractor restacking the sand.

I will say this, my son and daughter-in-law have really worked with their kids.  They respect authority and are so helpful with pitching in with a great attitude.  Just a delight to be around.

Note: In case you missed this from Last Week….
We are going through and discussing them in the Friday Group.

The 10 Pillars of Discipleship

These (4) talks were given by Walt Henrichsen about 50 years ago to a group of Navigators in New Zealand.  These are foundational truths and I would encourage you to find time to listen to them.  I might suggest before jumping in, you pray about it first.  We have discussed on a number of occasions if we are indeed teachable.  A good subject to humbly converse with the Lord……

Men:  How often do we see this happen in marriages?

False Hope on People – June 13 – Paul Tripp

“If you hook the hope of your heart to the people around you,
you will always be disappointed. No one is able to be your personal messiah”

  • No person can be the source of your identity.
  • No one can be the basis of your happiness.
  • No individual can give you a reason to get up in the morning and continue.
  • No loved one can be the carrier of your hope.
  • No one is able to change you from the inside out.
  • No human being can alter your past.
  • No person is able to atone for your wrongs.
  • No one can give your heart peace and rest.

Preparing for the Underground Church

Men:  This is a thought provoking article that needs to be given some serious consideration in light of what appears to be coming down the tracks.  This was written by the founder of the Voice of the Martyrs, Richard Wurmbrand.  Here is a short comment from Wurmbrand:

I remember my last Sunday School class before I left Romania. I took a group of ten to fifteen boys and girls on a Sunday morning, not to a church, but to the zoo. Before the cage of lions I told them, “Your forefathers in faith were thrown before such wild beasts for their faith. Know that you also will have to suffer. You will not be thrown before lions, but you will have to suffer at the hands of men who would be much worse than lions.  Decide here and now if you wish to pledge allegiance to Christ.” They had tears in their eyes when they said, “Yes.”

Men:  Not for the faint of heart…….

The High Cost of Cowardice

………..spiritual cowards yield to the world’s pressure, fearful of what an uncompromising life of standing for Christ and His gospel might cost them.…………

“But for the cowardly and unbelieving and unbelieving and abominable and murderers and immoral persons and sorcerers and idolaters and all liars, their part will be in the lake that burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.” (Revelation 21:8)

How many men do you know that want to talk about their souls, thinking about death and Christ.
Check out this quote from Jerry’s book”

“Excess information causes us to think about details other than our souls. To the degree you can get a man to think about something other than his soul is the degree to which you can nudge a man away from Christ. We have nudged thinking about our souls, thinking about death, thinking about Christ, off the screen. If a man will talk about his soul or death, then you have the chance to talk to him about something important.”

From “The Discipline of Delusion: How Secular Ideas Became the New Idolatry” by Jerry Bangert
