“Where were you when I laid the foundations of the earth…….? Have you visited the storehouses of the snow……?” (Job 38:4,22)

Mammoth Mountain – 3/31/19

Hi Men:

Thank you for your prayers.  My son John and his bride Paige were married on Sunday, halfway up the mountain at Mammoth Ski Resort.  My son and daughter-in-law asked both dads to say a few words (no more than 5 minutes because they would be married outside – I think I went a minute over 😊).  It was cold, but turned out to be a wonderful time.  As I mentioned in a previous email, Paige introduced me to her great-grandfather Floyd when my wife and I visited her family in the West Virginia/Ohio area in January.  At the wedding I shared a short message that Paige’s great-grandfather told his church on Father’s Day last year when he turned age 100.  He said:

“My hearing is bad, my eyesight is fading away, but yet I can hear from the Lord every day and He talks to me and leads me closer to my home in Heaven where He has a room for me.  I love Him supremely and I’m going to serve him to the end of my day.  And the end of my day can’t be too far away.  Thank the Lord for every day is good day.”

He went on to say that he:  Loves being with Jesus and involved with anything that Jesus is doing.”

And then he was asked, What is your advice to young Christians?”  His answer was:

“To have your life centered in Christ at the beginning of each day.  To be in the Word and prayer.”

What great wisdom coming from a man who has seen so much during his 100 years on this earth.  When I asked him what his day is like, he said the first thing he does when he gets up in the morning is to read his Bible and then pray.  Do you think we would have more peace and contentment if we spent more time with God through His Word and Prayer?

I find what Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn said so true:

“I have spent well-nigh fifty years working on the history of our revolution; in the process I have read hundreds of books, collected hundreds of personal testimonies, and have already contributed eight volumes of my own toward the effort of clearing away the rubble left by that upheaval.  But if I were asked today to formulate as concisely as possible the main cause of the ruinous revolution that swallowed up some sixty million of our people, I could not put it more accurately than to repeat: ‘Men have forgotten God; that’s why all this has happened.’” [Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn, The Templeton Address, London, 10 May 1983]

Men, let’s heed the wisdom from Floyd and Aleksandr and encourage others to do the same.

Dan

“Enjoy life with the woman whom you love all the days of your fleeting (some versions state ‘meaningless’) life which He has given to you under the sun; for this is your reward in life and in your toil in which you have labored under the sun.” (Ecclesiastes 9:9)

Albert Chong’s Testimony……….A short note from Lee Yih:

“We have been so busy, ever since our son-in-law, Dr. Albert Chong had his massive, “widow maker” heart attack.  Although that near tragedy is behind us, and our lives have somewhat returned to normalcy, I am writing to you, because I thought you might like to hear a public testimony from Albert, after his miraculous recovery, that he gave to his church this past Sunday, Mar 31st.  I’ve never heard such a perspective from a heart attack survivor in my life.  It’s a little over 15 minutes and quite edifying.  Click on the link” https://youtu.be/MQALuShWrJs
