Hi Men:
Tomorrow we have another Bible Study with Jonathan Koehler. He flies down from No. Utah and I pick him up at the airport at 6am. We have been in the Book of Romans and are now in month two of Chapter 8. We covet your prayers. This study has been a huge blessing. One of the brothers sent me a couple verses that we have been reflecting on:
For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh,
but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. (Romans 8:5)
Just think about the things you talk about and do in the course of a day. Are they of the flesh or Spirit? In other words, are they temporal or eternal. Are you looking at your circumstances or at Christ? Then we have
But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it. (Romans 8:25)
On this second verse, I’ll let you draw your own conclusions as to how and where you place your hope. We do know one thing, that the Apostle Paul DID NOT want to be “disqualified” and cast down “Thor’s Well” (a nice way of referring to the eternal lake of fire)
I ask for your prayers as I am in the middle of a computer upgrade (my 10 year old Dell is fading fast) and at the same time I in the process of sending Earthlink down the River Styx. I can’t believe I’ve kept it as long as I have. Regardless, I have had those moments in this change-over, I’ve wanted to pull my hair out. I will email you soon with my new email address.

Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn stated:
“A decline in courage may be the most striking feature that an outside observer notices in the West today and the decline in courage, at times attaining what could be termed a lack of manhood. A statesman who wants to achieve something important and highly constructive for his country has to move cautiously and even timidly; thousands of hasty and irresponsible critics cling to him at all times; he is constantly rebuffed by parliament and the press. He has to prove that his every step is well-founded and absolutely flawless. Thus mediocrity triumphs under the guise of democratic restraints”

The Scriptures are replete with men of unbridled courage. For example:
Eleazer
“stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword.” (2 Sam. 23:10a)
Josheb Basshebeth
“used his spear against 800 men whom he killed in one encounter.” (2 Sam. 23:8)
Apostle Paul: “I know that in every city the Holy Spirit warns me that prison and hardships are facing me. However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me–the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.” (Act. 20:23b,24) (See Num. 13:30; 14:6-12)
Robert J. McCracken: “The world is not perishing for want of clever or talented or well-meaning men. It is perishing for the want of men of courage and resolution who, in devotion to the cause of right and truth, can rise above personal feeling and private ambition.”
QUESTION
