Lake Tahoe Sunset 4-9-25
But as for me, the nearness of God is my good;
I have made the Lord God my refuge,
That I may tell of all Your works.
Psalm 73:28
Hi Men:
My wife and I just arrived back from Northern Nevada last night. We were invited to attend a concert in South Lake Tahoe by our son and daughter-in-law. John and Paige used to live in Tahoe before they moved to Knoxville, TN (some of you may remember the photos I included in the Friday letters, like this one: E²Vegas.org/Friday-Mens-Group-2-6-21). Being in Tahoe again brought back special memories for all of us. I even got to grab the sunset photo above on Wednesday evening.
Jot the the verse above down and work on memorizing it. When you see sunsets like the one above, it will profoundly change how you look at it.
Anyway, we had a delightful time being with them and probably the first concert Jane & I had been to since taking our 2 young boys to Carman about 30 years ago. The group that John and Paige follow are “The Avett Brothers”, a folk rock band that is really growing on me. John sent me a video he took several years back of the Avett Brother’s dad playing the guitar and sharing the Gospel one afternoon while everyone was in this huge pool at a resort hotel. Pretty amazing!
It was a blessing to be invited by our son and daughter-in-law. By the way, Jane and I weren’t the only “oldies” at this concert. There were a surprising number of folks our age that were in attendance.
IN YOU OWN BACKYARD & AT THE AIRPORT
I have to admit, I couldn’t get any traction on sharing the Good News of Jesus while in Tahoe. On Wednesday night I sat outside looking at the snow-covered mountains illuminated by the moon, asking the Lord for help. So yesterday, while at the Reno airport, I went to buy a couple bottles of water. The cashier was super nice and I included a tip for her. While walking away it was as if God said, “What is a tip going to do for her?” Boy was I convicted. Amazingly, God set it up perfectly so no one was there when I returned.
Her name was Lorena. I did my usual and pulled out my tracts and went through them. Still no one was there, so I shared my testimony. Lorena mentioned that she had no spiritual background and then she told me that her husband had died just 2 months ago! She looked at me teary-eyed and said “I think my husband must have sent you to me.” She was born north of Guadalajara, Mexico. I then grabbed several $1,000,000 bills in Spanish from my backpack and returned to talk with her more (that’s when my wife snapped the above photo). I asked her if she had ever seen the “Jesus Film” and of course she had not. I pulled up the app from my phone and showed her a minute of it. I asked if she would like to watch it in Spanish and she got super excited. This is the link I sent to her: https://arc.gt/s/1_jf-0-0/21028
On the back of my Steps To Peace With God, I have my email address. She said she was going to email to me. Right before Jane and I got ready to board, Lorena came over and thanked us both. She said she wanted to cry………
Overwhelmed with God’s Blessings,
Dan

JORGE & NICHOLAS – 4/9/25
MEN: GRAB YOUR COFFEE AND BE ENCOURAGED BY OUR BROTHER JORGE HERNANDEZ, AS HE VISITS WITH NICHOLAS AT LIBERTY HS IN LAS VEGAS
Hey, my brothers. I ask for your prayers for Nicholas today. God blessed me with a 55-minute divine appointment at FCA Liberty. It was just us, the Bible, and, most importantly, the Holy Spirit guiding our conversation. It felt reminiscent of Philip’s encounter with the Ethiopian eunuch, who struggled to comprehend the scriptures. God used Philip to teach him the scriptures regarding Jesus and God gave the increase.
During our session, Nicholas shared that he had a New Testament Bible tucked away in his backpack, yet he expressed that he didn’t understand what the Bible said. When I asked about his understanding of who Jesus was, he responded, recognizing Him as the Son of God who forgives sins. I asked him if he knew what that truly meant. However, he honestly admitted he didn’t fully grasp the depth of that statement.
With the Holy Spirit’s inspiration, we jumped into the scriptures together. As we explored the texts, a profound clarity washed over Nicholas, and his eyes were opened to understand the true nature of Jesus and His sacrifice. Through this enlightening moment, he realized the significance of who Jesus is, His sacrifice, and the forgiveness He offers. I am overjoyed to share that Nicholas understands that he, too, knows who Jesus is and has been forgiven by faith in God for his sins. He prayed with tears flowing down his face. Please help me pray for him as he embarks on this spiritual journey of getting to know our awesome God!

And They Crucified Him – Art Katz
Several years back, a dear brother sent me this 6 minute audio message. I had never heard it. Art Katz, a born-again Jew, wrote it and narrates it. He died in 2007.
