“Therefore, be careful how you walk, not as unwise men but as wise,
making the most of your time, because the days are evil.”

Hi Men:
I pray that, despite everything happening in the world right now, you are experiencing great peace “in” Christ. It’s hard to imagine having that peace if we’re constantly checking our phones for the latest comments, photos, blogs, or news updates. Let’s remember that the peace that “surpasses all understanding” comes from focusing on Him, not the calamity around us…… And if you think the calamity around you is coming from outside God’s Sovereignty, then chew on this verse:
“I form the light and create the darkness;
I bring prosperity and create calamity.
I, the LORD, do all these things.”
Isaiah 45:7

Do you get the impression that Halloween is becoming more popular than Christmas and Easter? It certainly seemed that way when I attended my neighbor’s Halloween party. I have been going to these parties for years now. They are great neighbors and live right across the street from my house. We interact a lot, and they would do anything for us. For example, I loan him my tractor for projects, and he welds things for me (he is an expert welder). He and his wife both have Harley-Davidson motorcycles and are part of a Harley club. His wife is over-the-top when it comes to Halloween. Not only is the front of their house decorated to the max, but there isn’t a square inch inside that doesn’t have something related to this ghoulish holiday—much of it quite frightening. When they got married (second marriage for both), they each lay in their own coffins as they exchanged vows. I kid you not!
So why would I participate in their bizarre Halloween party? Because I have been praying for them (and 15 other neighbors) for years. By the way, there were several other neighbors at this party whom I have also been praying for. The hosts are both unbelievers, and if they think their house was frightening, it will pale in comparison to a Christ-less eternity in Hell. This terrifies me. I continue to plead with the Lord that He will open their hearts.Â

“Our role is to be involved in the souls of men.”
I came across this verse yesterday morning as I was walking through the neighborhood. It is such a good one to reflect on in the days we are now living in………..
“Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits in the place of honor at God’s right hand. Think about the things of heaven, not the things of earth. For you died to this life, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all His glory.”
(Col 3:1-4)

“Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on Thee: because he trusteth in Thee”. (Is 26:3)

In light of the devotional below, how often we forget this profound verse?

according to His riches in glory in Christ Jesus.”

Men: A great quote by Bill Bright
“The Christian life is more than difficult; it is humanly impossible to live. Only Jesus Christ can live it through you as He dwells within you. The Christian life is not a person trying to imitate Christ; rather, it is Christ imparting His life to and living his life through the person. The Christian life is not what you do for Him; it is what He does for and through you. He wants to think with your mind, express Himself through your emotions, and speak through your voice, though you may be unconscious of it”
“I will give you all the proof you want that Christ speaks through me. Christ is not weak when he deals with you; he is powerful among you.”
(2 Corinthians 13:3)
Young Adults of North Carolina
After my son and I attended the R12.2 Conference at Calloway Gardens, GA last week, he and his wife were getting ready to have some young men and women from their church over for food and activities. This is what my son Mark said:
“My wife and I wanted to have the young adult crowd over to our house after church on Sunday because it’s a super practical way to bless and show kindness to a part of the church that we don’t know very well. We both got to know a few of them really well, and we are grateful for the new friendships we were able to make”
I pray that some of these connections will turn into lasting relationships

PIGWEED
by David Jeremiah 10/30/24
Cursed is the ground for your sake; in toil you shall eat of it.
Genesis 3:17
The New York Times ran an article titled “Attack of the Superweeds.” Some unwanted plants have developed a resistance to modern herbicides. Pigweed, for example, can grow three inches a day, and it’s no longer threatened by sprays. It can also suppress corn yields by up to ninety percent.1
When Adam and Eve disobeyed God, all creation was affected. The ground was cursed so that weeds grew more easily than crops—as all of us who have gardened know. But there’s wonderful news. During the thousand-year reign of Christ the curse will be abated. The ground will become more fruitful. And after the thousand years, we’ll receive a new heaven and new earth. Revelation 22:3 says, “And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it.”
Sin and sinful habits do a lot of damage. We have to work to eradicate them from our patterns of life, just as we have to pull weeds from our gardens. But in the Millennium, the curse will be abated, and in eternity it will be totally absent. So rejoice over that the next time you deal with pigweed!
The Curse is real, but it is temporary. Jesus is the cure for the Curse.
