Malachite Kingfisher

“Look at the birds of the air, that they do not sow, nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not worth much more than they?”
(Matthew 6:26)

NOTE: WITH MY GRANDKIDS VISTING US, THIS WEEKS FRIDAY LETTER WILL BE SHORTENED AND I WILL PICK UP WITH YOU ALL NEXT WEEK….. THANKS!

Hi Men:
I pray you’ve had time this week to reflect on the miracle of who you are “in” Christ.  Take a moment to reflect on this verse from 2 Corinthians 4:11, “For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus’ sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifest “in” our mortal flesh.”  What a great verse to ponder on as you have quiet time this weekend.

I’m sure most of you find birds fascinating. Last week a brother shared these 3 verses from Psalm 145:1-3:

“I will extol You, my God, O King,
And I will bless Your name forever and ever.
Every day I will bless You,
And I will praise Your name forever and ever.
Great is the Lord, and highly to be praised,
And His greatness is unsearchable.”

I first came across the Kingfisher in the book by Ray Comfort, “Made in Heaven” (Man’s Indiscriminate Stealing of God’s Amazing Design). You can Google how the Kingfisher revolutionized high speed train travel as scientists studied it’s unique beak design.

Also, I just read this about a female falcon:

It was equipped with a GPS tracker during her journey from South Africa to Finland. She covered approximately 230 km per day, flying in a straight line across African lands until she reached the desert in the north. She then followed the path of the Nile River over Sudan and Egypt, avoiding flying over the Mediterranean Sea. Instead, she crossed over Syria and Lebanon, also steering clear of the Black Sea—because if she got thirsty, she wouldn’t be able to drink from it. She continued in a straight line and reached Finland after 42 days.

As we reflect on just these two birds, we should be memorizing the three verses above from Psalm 145 and praising God because His greatness is unsearchable.

Quote by J.C. Ryle (1816-1900)

“We live in an age of unprecedented compromise. Courage has been eclipsed by cowardice. Conviction has been hijacked by capitulation. This produces what I must call a ‘jellyfish Christianity’ in the land: that is, a Christianity without bone, or muscle, or power.  Spineless.”

Two centuries later, this quote is now an understatement!
