Betelgeuse – 1.3 Billion Miles in Diameter
As many of you know, I love to reflect on our universe. Over the last few days, a couple of the brothers and I were discussing how massive it really is. By the way, this is a great website to get detailed information: math, measurements, distance, etc: https://www.wolframalpha.com
Betelgeuse is one of my favorite stars, because you can easily see it with your naked eye. Just look for Orion’s Belt in the Orion Constellation. If you have an android phone, you can download the free the app “Sky Map” and find the location of it and numerous objects in our own Milky Way Galaxy (which has 200-400 billion stars). As I have mentioned in previous emails, if you plopped Betelgeuse where our Sun is (which is only a pixel in the image above), it would fill up a sizable portion of our solar system……… and actually extend 100 million miles past Jupiter. That is mindboggling!
What’s even more unfathomable to think about is some astrophysicists at NASA now think there may be up to 1 trillion galaxies!
Here’s my point: To think that God, the Creator of “all things” (John 1:3), send His Precious Son to a miniscule planet called earth, to be scourged, have our filthy sins thrust upon Him and die by crucifixion is incomprehensible. In discussing this, one of the brothers said, “Ok Lord, my problems just aren’t that big! I repent.” Jesus died, so we wouldn’t have to. His death brings eternity into perspective and that’s where our focus should be. Don’t waste your ammunition on secondary targets!
“A preoccupation with the insignificant,
makes it impossible to bring priorities into perspective”
See you at noon,
When I read this, I again thought of how little “Fear of the Lord” there is anymore.
“Why do people in churches seem like cheerful, brainless tourists on a packaged tour of the Absolute? The tourists are having coffee and doughnuts on Deck C. Presumably someone is minding the ship, correcting the course, avoiding icebergs and shoals, fueling the engines, watching the radar screen, noting weather reports radioed in from shore. No one would dream of asking the tourists to do these things. . . . The wind seems to be picking up.
On the whole, I do not find Christians, outside of the catacombs, sufficiently sensible of conditions. Does anyone have the foggiest idea what sort of power we so blithely invoke? Or, as I suspect, does no one believe a word of it? The churches are children playing on the floor with their chemistry sets, mixing up a batch of TNT to kill a Sunday morning. It is madness to wear ladies’ straw hats and velvet hats to church; we should all be wearing crash helmets. Ushers should issue life preservers and signal flares; they should lash us to our pews. For the sleeping god may wake someday and take offense, or the waking god may draw us out to where we can never return.”

I want to thank Tony Hills for sharing his amazing story last Saturday at Lyle Brennan’s home. As some of you know, several years back, Tony acquired LHC (Langerhans Cell Histiocytosis Cancer). It’s very rare and always fatal. There are only 3 persons in the world that have survived. Tony is one of them and completely cancer free today! God’s Grace – Truly a miracle. To know more about Second Saturday, contact Lyle Brennan (702) 592-4098 or email at: LyleNB@gmail.com
Check out this 3 min video sent to me by one of the brothers in Arizona. I think you will like it. Click Here It appears more and more churches are understanding that there is no difference between the sacred and the secular or Church and Work. The video touches on what we have spent time on in the past with the “Why Go to Work” booklet. http://mimbooks.com/
Note: We are praying about having a half-day seminar this April on
Why Go To Work. Please pray with us……..
