Marshall Fire – Boulder County, Colorado
“That men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun
That there is no one besides Me.
I am the Lord, and there is no other,
The One forming light and creating darkness,
Causing well-being and creating calamity;
I am the Lord who does all these.”
(Isaiah 45:6-7)
Hi Men:
I pray you have reflected this week on who you are “in” Christ…….. This verse from Jesus is so amazing :
“You did not choose Me but I chose you, and appointed you that you would go and bear fruit, and that your fruit would remain, so that whatever you ask of the Father in My name He may give to you.” (John 15:16) A real WOW moment!
I was on a call yesterday morning and one of the brothers read Isaiah 45:1-7. A couple thoughts: Cyrus was the very powerful King of Persia and one of God’s anointed to do His bidding. Even though God mightily used Cyrus and gave him great wealth, in vs. 4 we see that Cyrus didn’t know God……… amazing! So it appears that God used Cyrus and didn’t approve him. After He used Cyrus, did He send him to Hell? Then in vs. 7 God says that he brings prosperity and creates calamity. Look up the Greek word for calamity…….. trust me, it’s not a “feel-good” word.
Marshall Fire – Colorado
Most all of you are aware of the devastating grass fire that broke out in Boulder County, Colorado just 6 weeks ago. Wind gusts up to 115 miles per hour allowed the fire to rapidly spread into the towns of Superior and Louisville. Over a 1000 homes were destroyed, making it Colorado’s most destructive fire. Then up to 10 inches of snow fell the following evening. By God’s sovereign will, only one person lost their life. By the way, two of our dear friends that live about 12 miles due north of the fire, teamed up with Samaritan’s Purse to assist those families that lost everything. You can see to the left the before and after due to the fire……
Now let’s circle back to the Sovereignty of God. My main point for bringing this up is to make sure we have great clarity on who this God is we serve. The Marshall fire was no accident. I’m bringing it up to see if you believe those verses. Since God is 100% in control of everything, there would be no fire unless He authorized it by His Sovereign will…………. Do you believe that?
Is it not from the mouth of the Most High that good and bad come?
(Lamentations 3:38)
Accidents, atrocities, tragedies, disasters – these are used by God to remind us of His Judgement. When people lose their life, they die in the perfect timing of God. Our beloved brother Tom Cameron, now with the Lord, would often drive home Hebrews 9:27, “as it is appointed to men to die once, and after that comes the judgement.” There is NO SECOND CHANCE…… no place called Purgatory and no back door to heaven.
Men, you need to get this very clear in your heart, mind and soul………… God is in control and at the same time, He is good! [Note: By way of example, when you get a handle on this, the need to talk about Covid-19 will pretty much disappear]
I pray this devastating Marshall Fire and brush with death, will drive many to their knees to seriously ponder where they will spend eternity.

Men: Tozer was born in 1897 and died in 1963. When I read his quote years ago I thought how far we have slipped since them.
