Pre-Thanksgiving Sunrise

Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.  He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being will flow rivers of living water.’” John 7:37-38

Hi Men:
I pray you all had a very special Thanksgiving with family and friends. I also pray that in everything your were able to give thanks, for this is the will of God “in” Christ Jesus for you! (1 Thess 5:18)

PHOTO ABOVE: 🛑 Sunrise Alert 🛑

It was early Tuesday as I was reading in John 7 when my wife burst in the room and said, “Dan, you have to see this sunrise!” When Jane does that, it’s no joke! I threw on my shoes and raced downstairs, out the front door and across the street (You only have a few minutes before it’s gone). The sky was on fire! It was almost apocalyptic. It blew me away.
When Jane came in the room that morning, I was thinking about Jesus words in John 7:37….. I know they have to do with salvation, but after I returned, I stopped and reflected on those words. I thought to myself: What do I thirst after? Does seeing a sunrise or sunset make me thirst after Jesus more? Does it give me a greater desire for eternity with Him in heaven? Are rivers of living water flowing out from me? I thought about the words from J.C. Ryle:

“The very first step towards heaven
is to be thoroughly convinced that we deserve hell.”

When I saw the sunset that morning, I had a moment of exponential awe and but also of how real God’s wrath has been and will be. Our best posture is to Fear the Lord. Let’s not stay thirsty and die! Instead, let’s hunger and thirst after righteousness and be filled! (Matt 5:6)

IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD AND WEST VIRGINIA

“It is better to go to a house of mourning
Than to go to a house of feasting…” (Ecclesiastes 7:2)
You might remember that my wife and I were at a wedding in West Virginia earlier this month. To keep it brief, I was able to give out a number of Million Dollar Bills with the gospel on the back, but everyone is in a good mood at a wedding reception, so it’s difficult to get any traction on conversations where people are going to spend eternity.
Yet I saw the gal that was tending bar, taking her break in the hallway. I started talking to her. I didn’t write it down, but I think her name was Jennifer. I asked how she was doing and then asked it again. She is a single mom and started telling me about her teenage daughter…..whoa! I showed her Steps To Peace With God and briefly explained it and how it transformed my life. She wanted it and anything else I had. I went back to my rental car and got the Book of John. When I returned, she was back tending bar, yet she took the Book of John and raced over to her purse and put it in. Of course I couldn’t tell for sure, but she seemed quite desperate for help from above…….
The “Harvest is Plentiful” men!

“When all has been heard, the conclusion of the matter is this: Fear God and keep His commandments, because this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, along with every hidden thing, whether good or evil.”
(Ecclesiastes 12:13-14)

3A State Football Championship – Arizona
Sat. Nov 30th – Pusch Ridge vs. ALA West Foothills

Hi Men,
Many of you know David Shoaff. You have seen him at many of the MIM conferences over the years and he was always involved at Zion. Currently he has been coaching for Pusch Ridge Christian Academy in Tucson.

Side note: After every game, they invite the other team to pray with them They also share the gospel. David told me on one occasion, a team member from the other team approached them after the prayer and saw that he was a sinner and headed to Hell. They prayed with him to receive Christ. How about that for the final outcome of a football game?

HERE is a short interview with David’s son, Tyler. Going into the championship game on Saturday, you will hear what Tyler says the priorities are……….

Please pray for the safety of the guys and that God would be glorified

Email from our brother Bill McCurine:
Dear Friends:

I am sending a piece written by a dear Christian brother about the true object of and reason for our hope.  His writing blessed me and I hope it blesses you.

Last week I mentioned the series above on Amazon Prime. It’s very well done and emphasized how Jesus has impacted the whole world. I ran across this quote from Napoleon Bonaparte:

The uniqueness of Jesus.  “I know men and I tell you that Jesus Christ is no mere man. Between him and every other person in the world there is no possible term of comparison. Alexander, Caesar, Charlemagne, and I have founded empires. But on what did we rest the creations of our genius? Upon force. Jesus founded his empire upon love, and at this hour millions of men would die for him.

This was sent to me by a brother in Canada. It is very good.

by David Watson (1933-1984)

When you attend a high school, college, or family reunion—you realize how powerful those relationships were and how thankful you are for the people who helped shape your life. If it’s true that “we don’t miss the water ’til the well runs dry,” the same could be said for relationships. This fact ought to encourage us to invest in them more actively while we have the chance.

We often think of the apostle Paul as a missionary-scholar more than a people person—but such a perception would be wrong. Throughout Acts and Paul’s epistles we see evidence of the relationships he valued in his life. He had a deep relationship with the elders of Ephesus (Acts 20:17-38). When he wrote his letter to the church at Rome, he greeted some thirty people by name (Romans 16:1-16). He was greeted by members of the church as he approached Rome (Acts 28:14-15). He acted as a mentor to countless coworkers in ministry: Barnabas, Mark, Timothy, Titus, Luke, and more.

Thank God for your friends in the faith. While you are able, do everything you can to strengthen your bonds in Christ.

Christianity is all about relationships with God and with others.
