Does it Snow in Las Vegas?
How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, “Your God reigns!”

As we begin this new year, I pray our sweet Lord has blessed you this week and you have enjoyed some solitude to reflect on the intimacy you have “in” Christ. Remember what James 4:8 states:
“Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you……”

It snowed yesterday morning in Las Vegas. The photo is one I took last March at Red Rock Canyon, just 20 minutes west of Las Vegas. I put the B&W version in my Friday Letter last year, so I thought I would include the color version this year. We are having pretty mild weather compared to the rest of the country ……. right?
I was thinking about the last part of the verse from Isaiah 52:7 ….. “Your God reigns!” No matter what’s going on in the world right now, “Your God reigns!” Next week I hope to share a few thoughts as to what the Israelite people went through at the hand of God in the Old Testament and some possible similarities to what happened on October 7th.
Do we believe the following about God?
- Nature and animals are under His control
- The nations are under His control
- God is Sovereign over Satan and evil spirits
- God uses wicked people for His plans
- God hardens hearts
- God sends trouble and calamity
- God puts people to death
- God does what He pleases and His purposes cannot be thwarted
- God guides all our steps and works all things after the counsel of His will

LET’S REACH BACK
On Tuesday, I met with a couple of my Eagle Scouts, Kyle & Phillip, from our Boy Scout Troop of years ago. We are now discussing how we can contact more of the scouts from those years to see how we can interact in their lives. Since most of them are now married with young kids, what a great time to come alongside them and pour into their lives. I covet your prayers.
I know it’s hard to see, but Kyle is not only reaching back, but pointing to one of the blimps flying around Las Vegas during the CES (Consumer Electronics Show). Here’s what that sunset behind us looked like about 15 minutes later. I was driving home and actually had to pull over:
