Hi Men:
I pray your heart has been calm, as we put our trust in JESUS and NOTHING else.
So what’s with the photo above? Last Saturday I was invited to the Citywide Prayer Breakfast at the grade school I attended in 5th and 6th grade. Now it’s a “Historic” building……. that’s comforting, yikes! 😮
Anyway, I was reluctant to attend because the last Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast I attended, about 15 years ago, had a diversified group of religious folks praying from various faiths, including; The Bahá’í Faith, Islam, Hindu, New Age, etc and of course some Christians.
This year I was blown away! The only people praying were Christian pastors and their prayers were amazing. My friend, Pastor Mike Hatch, was there – what a faithful brother who ministers in one of the roughest areas in Vegas. The worship team was excellent and they even played the 1896 hymn, “All to Jesus I Surrender.” Another amazing fact, our current mayor, Carolyn Goodman, who is Jewish, yet through her office, they pick up most all of the expenses (catering, A/V, staff, etc).
What I was most amazed with, was the unity among the various “kingdom minded” churches represented. Quite rare these days…….
Also, one of the Metro police captains thanked the churches they can call 24/7 for human trafficking victims, stabbing victims, missing children, etc. The various churches are there to assist and to pray. 
My friend Scott brought his team with “Luke2” to show how any Christian can wear a shirt to stimulate a conversation about Jesus.
Around noon, one of the pastors prayed for “Our Nation & Our Leaders.” And we all know what happened about 3 hours later @ 6:11pm in Butler, PA.

I thought it would be appropriate to refresh our memory on the Sovereignty of God:
* The nations and leaders are under His control
* God is Sovereign over Satan and evil spirits
* God uses wicked people for His plans
* God hardens hearts
* God sends trouble and calamity
* God puts people to death
* God does what He pleases and His purposes cannot be thwarted
* God guides all our steps and works all things after the counsel of His will
My wife shared this verse with me last night:
“Don’t put your confidence in powerful people; there is no help for you there. When they breathe their last, they return to the earth, and all their plans die with them. But joyful are those who have the God of Israel as their helper, whose hope is in the LORD their God.”
Psalm 146:3-5 NLT
What’s the message? Make sure you know exactly where you are placing your hope and trust. God and God only preserved President Trumps life and possibly like Esther in the Bible, “……….who knows whether you have not attained royalty (the presidency) for such a time as this?” Esther 4:14
We need to pray for all our leaders, including President Biden
IN YOUR OWN BACK YARD & DOWN THE STREET
After the prayer breakfast I had a haircut scheduled, but had time to grab a quick bite. I drive by this Jack in the Box near my home often, but seldom visit it, because at my age, fast food doesn’t sit well 🤠 BUT……. I HAVE ALWAYS LOVED THEIR TACOS! Probably the most unhealthy item on the menu! So I ordered (2) tacos and some egg rolls (who knew they now had egg rolls?). The store was almost empty, probably because it was so hot outside and the lunch hour rush had passed. I starting talking to the counter attendant. She was from Ohio and probably close to my age. I said I have something for you and gave her the Million Dollar Gospel of John with Steps To Peace With God tucked inside it, plus a tip. She was grateful, said she would read it and shared some of her background. I could see that some of the workers in the back were listening.
After I got my food, a homeless man came in to get out of the heat. It was really hot outside. When the staff was in the back, he would go up and fill his cup with soda. The 2nd time he did that, I gave him my egg rolls as he walked by. This guy was in bad shape ……. skin & bones. I pulled out my cartoon tract, “Are You a Good Person?” and went over and sat next to him. I asked if he could read and he said yes. He promised he would read the tract and I gave him a few bucks.
As I left Jack in the Box, I walked up to the counter again and gave all the workers a Steps To Peace With God with tip for all of them. They were so happy. Such a great afternoon on a “very” hot day!

Most of us know the acronym F.A.T. (Faithful, Available and Teachable). At some point in the days ahead we will go more into detail of these (3) words. For now let’s touch on “Available.” Last week I put in the Friday letter the family that died in the plane crash. No one one knows when we might take our last breath.
We need to see ourselves as “lifeboats” and be available….. People around us are dying. Are we standing around polishing the brass?
