Penn Jillette – World Famous Illusionist

Watch – 32 Seconds

“But how can they call on Him to save them unless they believe in Him?
And how can they believe in Him if they have never heard about Him?
And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?”
Romans 10:14 (NLT)

Hi Men:
I pray you have retained your peace this week….. and we know by now, that peace is only through our Lord, Jesus Christ……

“And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds “in” Christ Jesus.”
~ Phil 4:7

Be intentional about limiting your screen time. A steady diet of breaking news and endless commentary can do what? Rob you of the peace Christ has given you. This real time national & global news has also created a spirit of fear in so many people.

Our brother Dr. Micah Olson, wrote a profound article you can read below [Ministry in the Marketplace]. It is based on Isaiah 8:11-13. Here is part of it……

“And you are not to fear what they fear or be in dread of it”

About three years ago, I referenced a blog by Atheist, Penn Jillette in one of my Friday Letters. Jillette is one half of Penn & Teller, the long-time Las Vegas headlining duo known for comedy and illusion. He has been very open about his disbelief in God, often writing about it in articles and best-selling books.
Yet in a short YouTube video blog, Penn recounts how a gracious Christian businessman once gave him a Bible. He uses that story to make a striking point: If Christians truly believe in heaven and hell, yet choose not to evangelize, what does that say?
Here is his complete quote:

“……..I’ve always said, you know, that I don’t respect people who do not proselytize. I don’t respect that at all. If you believe that there’s a heaven and hell, and people could be going to hell or not getting eternal life or whatever, and you think that, uh, well, it’s not really worth telling them this because it would make it socially awkward—and atheists who think that people shouldn’t proselytize, [saying] “Just leave me alone and keep your religion to yourself”—uh, how much do you have to hate somebody to not proselytize them? How much do you have to hate somebody to believe that everlasting life is possible and not tell them that? I mean, if I believed beyond the shadow of a doubt that a truck was coming to hit you, and you didn’t believe it, and that truck was bearing down on you, there’s a certain point where I tackle you. And this is more important than that……..”

Here is Penn Jillette’s actual blog: A Gift Of A Bible (YouTube 5-min)
I love one of the comments: “Mr Jillette you probably don’t realize this, but that was the best 5-minute sermon most of us have ever heard”

IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD

The other day I was talking with a good buddy of mine in Arizona, and he shared a story I think you’ll enjoy immensely. It happened when a AAA technician showed up to replace his wife’s car battery. What started as a routine service call turned into something far more significant……. Here’s what happened:

——-

After the AAA guy replaced my wife’s car battery, and when he was finished we were standing on the driveway next to his car, I said, “Hey, I’ve got a tip for you. Here’s some cash, but I’ve got an even better tip for you.” I handed him Steps to Peace With God and encouraged him to read it.

He grabbed it, threw the money on his seat, and started reading it right there! Since he was already reading it, I offered to take him through it and he readily agreed. When we got to the point that asks, “Are you on man’s side or God’s side?” he said, “Man’s side for sure.”

I asked him, “Is there any reason why you can’t accept Jesus right now?” He said, “I don’t think so.” I asked if he was a sinner. He said, “Absolutely, I’m a sinner.”

We walked through the four things you need to acknowledge, and I asked him, “What do you think? You ready to do this?” He said, “Yeah, I’m ready.” He prayed out loud to receive Christ.

After that I took him through the rest of the booklet, gave him my email, and told him if he sent me a note, I’d send him a Bible and some passages to help him develop his relationship with Jesus. He drove away with a big smile on his face, thanking me. He’s originally from Germany, so he said, “Guten Tag,” with a grin.

And that was it…… I’m humbled, grateful and amazed.

In talking more with my friend, he told me he had that split second of hesitation. We all do. But what’s the downside? Awkward for a moment?……. God gives us this amazing privilege to participate in His plan of salvation. It doesn’t get any better than that !!

Men:
Most of the church today would pass on a verse like this one…….

“I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus.” (1 Cor 5:5)

“…..when a man refuses to exercise biblical discipline with his children, God comes looking for the father.”

Conspiracy Theories

by Micah Olson | Feb 9, 2026 |

For thus the LORD spoke to me with mighty power and instructed me not to walk in the way of this people, saying, “You are not to say, ‘It is a conspiracy!’ In regard to all that this people call a conspiracy, And you are not to fear what they fear or be in dread of it. It is the LORD of hosts whom you should regard as holy. And He shall be your fear, And He shall be your dread.” Isaiah 8:11-13

Men: In a world saturated with information, outrage, and endless speculation, it is easy to let our hearts be shaped by whatever dominates the headlines. Yet Isaiah 8 reminds us that the issue is not how accurately we analyze world events, it is whom we fear. Are we fearing conspiracies, cultural shifts, and political upheaval… or are we fearing the Lord? Make sure you find time to read Micah’s article.

And indeed, the devil is most active when we are most idle,
especially in the spiritual disciplines.

In the Way of Temptation

~ by Tim Challies

We do not often speak of duty today, but Christians traditionally spoke of it often. In fact, Christians understood the means of grace as duties, responsibilities of every believer toward God. And while these duties are the means through which God provides us with his grace, they are also the means through which God guards us against temptation. Christians who wish to overcome the inevitable temptations of the world, the flesh, and the devil must remain dutiful, alert, and disciplined.

This means that if and when we fall away from the spiritual disciplines, we should not be surprised when we face increased temptation and when we more easily succumb to it. Charles Spurgeon once wrote, “Idle people tempt the devil to tempt them.” And indeed, the devil is most active when we are most idle, especially in the spiritual disciplines.

In a similar vein, Matthew Henry warned that “when we are out of the way of duty, we are in the way of temptation.” If that is true, so is the inverse: When we are in the way of duty, we are out of the way of temptation. This is not to say, of course, that when we take full advantage of the habits of grace we will face no temptation, but that when we do face it, we will readily avail ourselves of the means through which we can face it and triumph over it. God chooses to work through means, and it is only a foolish Christian who will not joyfully and consistently take advantage of them.

LET IT SNOW

The John 10:10 Project

There are more than two million different animal species in the world, and each is designed to survive in a specific environment. Among the most fascinating are the creatures that inhabit some of the coldest regions on our planet. In LET IT SNOW we’ll explore the remarkable biological provisions that enable polar bears, snowshoe hares, wood frogs and snow monkeys to thrive in sub-zero temperatures.

How many are your works, O Lord, in wisdom you made them all.

Men: A few quotes to reflect on this weekend

🔥 General “Stonewall” Jackson

“Oh God, let this horrible war quickly come to an end, that we may all return home and engage in the only work that is worthwhile… and that is the salvation of men.”
— General “Stonewall” Jackson

🔥 J.C. Ryle

“The watchman who keeps silent when he sees a fire is guilty of gross neglect. The doctor who tells us we are getting well when we are dying is a false friend. And the minister who keeps back hell from his people in his sermons is neither a faithful nor a charitable man.”
— J.C. Ryle

🔥 Bill Bright

“Therefore, we should be like the prophet Ezekiel, the ‘watchman on the wall,’ telling our society, family, friends, and neighbors the reality of heaven and hell. We are to be engaged in ‘snatching them from the flames of judgment’ (Jude 23). This act simply requires caring enough to warn of the very real danger of living without Christ. We need only tell people the truth. There is a hell to shun and a heaven to gain. We must join the Apostle Paul who declared, ‘It is because we know this solemn fear of the Lord that we work so hard to persuade others’ (2 Corinthians 5:11). It is our duty to share eternal truths with those we encounter.”
— Bill Bright

Men who believe in hell, block the path.
