Hi Men:
I pray you’re resting in the Sovereignty of the Lord and no matter what’s going on, nothing is a surprise to God…… and He is 100% in control. Rather than fretting over things we have no control over, let’s reflect on (4) things we can tell Jesus:
Lord Jesus, I will…
- Go where You want me to go
- Do what You want me to do
- Say what You want me to say
- Give what You want me to give
A precious friend sent me a book and the above four things were in the introduction. What about it? Can you honestly commit to those four areas of your life for Jesus?

Men, this is why the human cell is such a mic-drop. With modern cryo-electron tomography, scientists can now freeze cells and reconstruct their internal structures in 3D. The more powerful the microscope, the less the cell looks like an accident. It looks like a microscopic city, coded instructions, energy plants, delivery systems, assembly lines, recycling centers, and quality control. This is not pond scum figuring itself out. This is design, order, and engineering on a microscopic scale.
In a Friday letter almost 5 years ago, I addressed “Your Body’s Molecular Machines.” Back then, the point was simple: life is not simple. Even at the microscopic level, your body is filled with machines, motors, transport systems, and coded instructions. But in the years since, the picture has only become more staggering. With advances in cryo-electron microscopy, cryo-electron tomography, molecular modeling, and 3D cellular imaging, scientists are seeing the inside of the cell with greater clarity than ever before. And the more they see, the more the cell looks less like chemistry bumping around and more like an engineered, self-regulating city.
Consider just a few of the systems operating inside your cells right now:
- DNA — coded instructions written in a four-letter language
- Ribosomes — molecular factories building proteins
- ATP synthase — rotary motors producing cellular energy
- Kinesin — walking delivery trucks carrying cargo along microtubule highways
- Mitochondria — power plants helping convert food into usable energy
- Microtubules — internal highways and structural supports
- Cellular recycling systems — cleanup, sorting, repair, and waste processing
- Quality control systems — detecting errors, folding proteins, and breaking down damaged parts
The human cell is not a lucky accident that crawled out of the mud. It is a microscopic testimony that God is not only the Creator of the heavens above us, but also the Architect of the hidden world within us.
IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD
Meet Pharaoh and Sean – Hay Delivery Guys
I was out walking when Jane called and said, “Dan, the hay guys are here.” She knows I love talking with the men who deliver our hay, so I told her, “Keep them there!” She assured me they would be, since they had two tons of hay to unload and stack.
By the time I got home, they were about 80% done. It was close to 100 degrees, so I brought out some cold drinks. As we talked, I learned that Pharaoh was into boxing and now MMA. Sean grew up outside of Austin, NV.
[Here is a summary of my 15 minute conversation with them]
After they finished stacking the hay and cleaning up, I said, “Guys, I’ve got something for you, if you’d like it.” They said, “Sure. What is it?” So I gave them some of the materials many of you have seen me use and told the guys why I love giving them out: because of what Jesus Christ has done in my life. I shared a summary my testimony: How my life had spiraled downward when I was 40 and then pointed to the mulberry tree in our backyard and said, “That’s where I surrendered my life to Jesus Christ, and my life has never been the same.”
I asked if they had any spiritual background. Pharaoh told me he was Muslim. Sean said he was an unbeliever with no real spiritual background.
So I pointed to the Million Dollar Gospel of John and said in the 14th chapter is this verse:
“I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.” (John 14:6)
Then I said, “Either that statement by Jesus is true, or it’s a lie! If it’s a lie I’m to be most pitied, but if Jesus was telling the truth, then it has eternal significance – eternity with Him and the God of the Bible or eternity separated from Him.” I also showed them the tract and asked them, “Are You a Good Person?” and they both answered “yes” but I said, “The Bible says no one is good, not one. We have all sinned and fall short of the glory of God. That’s why our only hope is Jesus Christ.” In addition we went through a few pages of “Steps To Peace With God.”
Pharaoh became quiet. Maybe upset or even conflicted. I told them, “Guys, I’m sharing this with you, because I care about you. What you do with it is completely up to you.”
Before they left, I gave them a great tip — they had earned it for sure. We took a picture together, I told them, “God bless both of you men,” gave them a hug, and said goodbye. As he left, Pharaoh gave me the traditional Muslim greeting: “As-salamu alaykum.”
I have no idea what God is going to do in the hearts of those two men.
But I do know this: we are called to be faithful with the opportunities God puts right in front of us, sometimes literally in our own backyard.
