Hi Men:
I pray you have thanked Jesus this week for the great salvation He purchased with His own precious blood. The same Jesus that is giving you breath right now. Every beat of your heart is sustained by Him. You are reading these words with eyes that He Himself formed.
We could list a thousand more miracles, just within our own bodies, that He designed and sustains every moment.
And now… this same Jesus Christ lives in you. Are you living like that is real?

During my years as a Scoutmaster, our troop built a unique relationship with Nellis Air Force Base (one of the premier tactical Air Force bases in the world). On one visit, we were allowed onto the flight line, where we spent the morning with pilots and crew around the newly deployed F-22 Raptor. Check out this photo – it was truly an amazing morning back in 2004.

Another incredible relationship we developed was with the PJs — the U.S. Air Force Pararescuemen from the 58th Squadron. As many of you know, these men are elite combat rescue specialists, highly trained to recover personnel in the most dangerous environments imaginable. Many of you saw a recent example of this when PJs led the rescue of two downed F-15E pilots in Iran. If interested, here is a former PJ, Aaron Love, who was interviewed on the rescue of those 2 pilots. Aaron lives in Las Vegas. (YouTube 25 mins)
These men brought to our troop, what they do and how they are trained. They showed us specialized equipment (what they were allowed to share): different colored duffel bags for different rescue environments: Blue for ocean rescues, white for snow-covered terrain, green for forest operations – Ready to be deployed at a moments notice, anywhere in the world. But even more impactful was hearing about their training. It was absolutely jaw-dropping.
The boys saw first hand that these men were Disciplined – Focused & Willing to risk everything, even their own life. (John 15:13)
We also had the privilege of building a relationship with Chief Master Sergeant Paul Koester, a legend among the PJs and the longest-serving combat pararescuemen. Boy did he have some real-world rescue stories. Here is a photo of him in Afghanistan
But what stood out even more was this: on their own time, some of these PJs would join us on outings. They trained our boys in rappelling. In fact, they were delighted that we introduced them to a remote area in the Eldorado Mountains where they could train without interference.

Meet Angelica at the dry cleaners down the street
I’ve known Angelica for some time where I drop off my dry cleaning. She’s always kind, and we’ve had a few conversations about her family over the years. I had also met her daughter who works on Saturdays and told her what a great job she does.
Last week, Angelica was the only one in the shop and had some downtime – which is quite rare. We had a bit of small talk then she asked what I had been up to, and I told her my wife and I had just returned from a conference called the Jesus Film Briefing in Texas. She recognized the name from one of my shirts, so I pulled out my phone and showed her the app. When I explained that the Jesus Film has been translated into over 2,270 languages, she was amazed.
Not only the Jesus Film, but I then pointed to the 58-minute Magdalena video (the life of Mary Magdalene). Angelica is from Mexico, so I pulled up the Spanish version and let it play. Seeing/hearing it in her own language really impacted her. I asked if she would like it, and she said YES! I handed her my phone and she entered her number, received the link, and said she was going to watch it with her daughter that night.
After leaving, I felt prompted to go back. I grabbed a nice leather Spanish Bible that I had been saving for a moment like this and a few more tracts in Spanish and returned – she was still alone in the shop. When I gave them to her, she was genuinely moved, especially with the Bible, and so grateful.
I will see her again soon. Thank you Lord for this divine appointment…….

Clear Thinking

It goes without saying that we are in a battle for our minds. A quick scroll through our phones or a short drive down the road evidences the fact that we live in a world that is fighting to gain the attention of our thoughts. Not only that, but so many things control or affect our thinking – our experience, our culture, where we live, how we were raised, what seems fair to us.

Bottom line: We don’t know all that God is doing, but we do know what He has called us to do: be wise, stand firm in truth, act like men and point people to Christ. Governments rise and fall… but eternity is forever.
