Coronal Hole – NASA

“The heavens declare the glory of God”
(Psalm 19:1)

Hi Men,
It’s becoming harder and harder to keep up with all the events circling our globe—fires, floods, earthquakes, volcanoes, and chaos on nearly every continent. If I didn’t have my feet planted firmly on the solid Rock of Christ, I might consider jumping off Hoover Dam… just kidding (or am I?).

We know what people are capable of when they have no hope. But by His undeserved grace, our hope is secure—anchored in the eternal Good News of Jesus Christ.
And now, as if Earth wasn’t turbulent enough… the Sun is acting up.

PHOTO ABOVE

Most people haven’t heard of it. But for the past 9 months, something massive has been happening on the surface of the sun—something NASA scientists are calling “unprecedented.”
A coronal hole—nearly 1 million kilometers wide—has opened up near the sun’s equator. It’s not a literal hole, but a gaping rupture in the sun’s magnetic field, blasting Earth every 27 days with high-speed solar wind.

“Think of it as a firehose of solar wind escaping into space.” – NASA

By the way, these solar winds travels at at 1 to 2 million miles per hour.

Here’s why this matters:

  • Longest-lasting coronal hole ever recorded (ongoing since Sept 2024)
  • Earth-facing and precisely aimed—hitting us like clockwork
  • Causing surges in auroras, GPS disruptions, and space weather alerts
  • All happening while Earth’s magnetic field is weaker than ever

“Auroras once reserved for the poles are now lighting up Australia — not once, but repeatedly — all because of a million-mile-wide tear in the sun’s magnetic skin.”

That’s why “auroras” are called the Northern Lights – not Southern! Until now, they did not occur in the Antarctica region.
Check out this 1:18 min video of auroras in Sydney Australia on YouTube

Most coronal holes last a few weeks. This one has lasted over 270 days and is still going strong. It is a statistical freak of nature—and no one can explain it.
But we can.

We can rest in the fact that we worship the One who “placed the sun in the heavens” (Gen. 1:16) and “upholds all things by the word of His power” (Heb. 1:3).
So, as the sun erupts, oceans churn, and systems shift, remember that God is in control.

“He looks at the earth, and it trembles; He touches the mountains, and they smoke.”
—Psalm 104:32

HOW TO PUT A SMILE ON SOMEONE’S FACE!

Recently, as I zoom around on my knee scooter and when I’m at the checkout cashier, I will say something like this, “Now I have something for you. Did you get your million dollar bill?”
At Kohls this week, the young cashier looked like she wanted to be anywhere except working that day……. that is until I asked her the above question. She literally went bonkers! She loved them (I gave her several) and she thought it was great that it had the gospel message on the back. As I walked away, she had the biggest smile on her face! Order Yours Today!

My Grandkids are in town for a few days. It can be 102°F – no shade and I can’t get them off the sand pile…….

Pursuing Humility

by Chris Martin | Jul 16, 2025 |

“Thus says the Lord, ‘Heaven is My throne and the earth is My footstool.  Where then is a house you could build for Me? And where is a place that I may rest?  For my hand made all these things, thus all these things came into being? Declares the Lord’, “But to this one I will look, to him who is humble and contrite of spirit, and who trembles at My Word”
(Isaiah 66:1-2).

Time and time again in His Word, God turns our attention toward our need to be humble.  In fact, it is discussed over 80 different times in the Bible.  In our Isaiah passage the Hebrew word has a definition that includes to be “afflicted, humble, lowly, needy, poor.”

In the New Testament Greek it carries a similar meaning of “to be cast down, of low degree, lowly.”  The opposite of humility is pride, arrogance, conceit, boastful, or proud.

Note from Janna Henrichsen regarding Leette Henrichsen’s health 7/17/25

Hello, Dear Friends,

If you have received my last letter, you know about Mother’s fall in her apartment and need for surgery on a broken femur.  You also know that there were complications post-surgery with her heart and kidneys not wanting to return to normal function.

Mother’s hospital doctors determined on the 9th that there was nothing they could do short of drastic measures that Mom definitely did not want.  It was time for comfort and final care.  Deborah came on the 10th, Mom moved back to Hoosier Village on the 11th — into the health center so the nurses could manage her pain and her friends could come visit.  Mother’s sister,  Linda, was able to come for a visit on the 12th.

During this process, Mother has been diminishing in awareness and response.  By God’s grace, the medication keeps her from considerable bouts of pain.  When she communicates, it is to express love and gratitude.  However, by the 13th, Mom had largely stopped communicating and finds it difficult to open her eyes.

The Hospice nurse examined her on the 15th and says that Mom is in the interim period of diminishing capacity but not yet dying.  This interim usually lasts from 1-2 weeks.  Mother is on her 11th day.

Jonathan, Deborah and I continue to pray that the Lord will be gracious and gather Mother to Himself, but we are thankful for His timing and for His provision of care.

Thank you for your love and prayers.  I will keep you updated when things begin to change.

God bless,
Janna

Great Audio Teaching to Review

Men:  With everything going right now, do we view circumstances that come into our life as God’s leading in our life?

This is a timely teaching to review.  Interesting to note that Walt gave this message while his son was dying of Leukemia.

John MacArthur died this week. There are so many tributes to his life, I thought I would just use what Ray Comfort shared. Watch It On YouTube (9:41 min)
