“For as high as the heavens are above the earth,
So great is His lovingkindness toward those who fear Him.”
Psalm 103:11

Hi Men:
I pray the peace of God has guarded your heart and mind this week.
It’s amazing to reflect on the fact that God created the whole universe just for us!  Not only that, God holds everything in the Universe together, “He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.”  (Colossians 1:17).  If God let go, since everything is ultimately composted of atoms, it would all just vaporize………everything!  This is mind-boggling stuff men and should produce Godly Fear!  I do hope you that you are spending time reflecting on our sweet Savior and pouring yourself into His “living” Word….. or is something else taking front and center?

By the way, if you want to know more about the image above, which was released just last month, you can Google “Messier 78.” Just in that image alone, scientists have found over 300,000 objects. Breathtaking.
Here is a short 1 minute video. (YouTube)

IN YOUR OWN BACKYARD & DOWN THE STREET

Two weeks ago, I was on my morning walk and saw in the distance a bunch of construction on Las Vegas Blvd South (south end of the Strip). So I walked up to see what was going on. This area is not on my normal routine. I discovered that the U-Hall facility was expanding, but noticed the large group of men waiting to be hired to help someone move. Ah Ha!

So….. Last Friday morning I headed to those men. I had been praying and asking the Lord if there was just one man I could encounter. I was about 40 yards away and this guy started up a conversation. He was super nice and we stood under the shade of a bus stop and started to shoot-the-bull. His name is Stan and he was from Louisianan, but had been in Vegas for a while.

After about 15-20 minutes, I asked him if I could share something really important with him. I shared part of my testimony and then we read the first page of Steps To Peace With God. He seemed agitated, so I paused and asked him if he wanted to continue and he emphatically said, “YES, I don’t have anything better to do!” So I held the tract and asked if he would read it. He read it slowly and carefully and got to the end and he prayed to receive Christ, and that is exactly what happened. He doesn’t have a Bible, so I told him I will be back. He said this is where you can always find me.

Men, God just wants us to be available. My walk back home that morning was a glorious delight. Please pray for Stan. I’ll keep you posted.

Overwhelmed with His Grace & Mercy,
Dan
(Gal 2:20)

Question: Are you taking up your cross daily?

“If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me.   For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it.   For what is a man profited if he gains the whole world, and loses or forfeits himself?” ~ JESUS (Luke 9:23-25)

“There are no crown-wearers in heaven who were not cross-bearers here below.” C.H. Spurgeon

Men:  Please ponder this statement:

Christ touches an area of your life and says,
“Let’s see if this really belongs to Me.”

Dr. Anna Lembke, author of Dopamine Nation, sometimes urges her patients to undergo a “dopamine fast” for one month—a sufficient amount of time for the brain to start rewiring. But even unplugging for a few minutes can be scary for those caught in the cycle.

She shares an example:

My patient Sophie, a Stanford undergraduate from South Korea, came in seeking help for depression and anxiety. Among the many things we talked about, she told me she spends most of her waking hours plugged into some kind of device: Instagramming, YouTubing, listening to podcasts and playlists.

In session with her I suggested she try walking to class without listening to anything and just letting her own thoughts bubble to the surface. She looked at me both incredulous and afraid. “Why would I do that?” she asked, openmouthed.

A week later, Sophie returned and reported on the new experience: “It was hard at first. But then I got used to it and even kind of liked it. I started noticing the trees.”

This is Discipleship

FCA June Update – by Andy Fetsis

Men:
After I read Andy’s update, I said to myself, “This is Discipleship.” The following (2) sentences by Andy really grabbed me:

“My greatest sense of being overwhelmed is at the pain and difficulties in the lives of these young men that I have learned about by spending time with them on and off the field. No fathers, no direction, no plan, no guidance, no future hope.”

“My being overwhelmed is also very good for me. I have a large group of young men that need mentors – they need love and they need Christ.

Movie To Watch: HAVEN (3 Hrs)

Men: In light of the tremendous anti-Semitism world wide, I would highly recommend watching this 2001 movie. You will know why after you watch it. It’s long, so maybe watch it over 2 days.

There are several ways to watch Haven. Below are two:

The Cost of Discipleship Pales in Comparison to
What We Gain in Following Jesus

by Randy Alcorn

Men:
This article is a “MUST” read. It will take you (4) minutes. You would think that Randy Alcorn just read the MIM booklet, The Profit Motive

“He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain what he cannot lose.”

When Jim Elliott penned that quote, “gain” was exactly how he meant it….. “ETERNAL GAIN”
